Directors’Circle - Nic Willis, Nic Willis Consulting

If you’ve ever met Nic, you will not forget her. Her positive attitude and bubbly personality make her an absolute people-magnet, which is useful because that’s pretty much what she does for work. Recruitment can be challenging but for Nic, it’s a lifelong passion.

What’s been the steepest learning curve since starting a business?

It is okay to change direction and take another path. Sometimes you need to adjust your plan or delay the progress towards your goal due to unforeseen circumstances and that is okay – your goal will still be there when you are ready for it.

How do you stay motivated when challenges arise?

I am one of those weird people who thrive on pressure and challenges so that increases my energy level to handle the situation. I turn into an energiser battery when challenges are thrown at me and perform best under pressure.

What are your non-work habits that help with your life-work balance?

Wine and reading (although not at the same time).

What is the best advice you have received recently?

Never underestimate your experience. Quite often when we have been in a position or industry for a long time, we don’t recognise that we develop a strong skill set and underestimate the value of what we bring to the table.

Explain yourself in one word.

Passionate.
